TUDOR introduces the new Pelagos FXD, reference 25717N

The new Pelagos FXD pays tribute to decades of TUDOR watches on the wrists of US Navy divers. Completed with fixed strap bars, a titanium case, a high-performance Manufacture Calibre and a unidirectional elapsed-time rotating bezel, it comes as the ultimate modern “Milsub”.

TUDOR PELAGOSFXD NAVY 01

As early as the mid ‘50s, TUDOR diving watches were being tested and evaluated by a number of outfits inside the US Navy, and by 1958 they were officially adopted by the Navy and purchased for the purpose of issuing them to divers operating in various units. This Pelagos FXD model is the spiritual successor of those watches. The nomenclature hints at the background of the watch, with FXD referring to the incredibly robust FiXeD strap bars of the case. The model represents a modern, high-performance and robust take on the famed “Milsub” (short for Military Submariner) of yesteryear.

Initially developed in conjunction with active-duty combat swimmers, the Pelagos FXD case is based on a set of specifications that are as precise as they are demanding. Machined from a single block of titanium, the case is satin-brushed with fixed strap bars, 42 mm in diameter and 12.75 mm in thickness, has a stainless-steel case back and is water resistant to 200 meters.
It’s equipped with an ergonomic 60-notch unidirectional rotating bezel and a ceramic insert with 60-minute graduation filled with X1-grade Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material, which meets the ISO 6425:2018 standard for divers' watches.

The matt black dial displays the characteristic square applied hour markers and the emblematic 'Snowflake' hands, introduced by the brand in 1969, both filled with grade X1 Swiss Super- LumiNova® luminescent material to allow optimal legibility of the functions in low-light conditions.

The self-winding Manufacture Calibre MT5602 powering the Pelagos FXD model reference 25717N displays the hours, minutes and seconds. Equipped with a variable-inertia balance with non-magnetic silicon hairspring beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement is certified as a Chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) and offers a 70-hour power reserve when not worn.

It’s made up of a 22mm forest green nylon woven ribbon with a red central thread, a titanium “D” buckle and a self-gripping fastening system. It also comes with an additional black rubber strap with an embossed woven motif and titanium pin buckle, included in the box.
